How many churches exist in your community? The answer: ONE. What if that One Church joined God on His mission to see every man, woman, and child have a repeated opportunity to see, hear, and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ? Good news – at Christ Together, we are seeing that vision become a reality.
We are seeing denominations, networks, and churches partner together as God is stirring in the hearts of pastors and leaders, bringing them to a new table. At this table the question “What does God want to do in our geography?” is being asked. Here these leaders are given the chance to build relationships, dream together, and strategize about how to demonstrate and communicate the gospel to the men, women, and children in their geography – TOGETHER.
When we updated you last, Christ Together was continuing to develop. We were encouraged by the partnerships and relationships that were forming. Well, the development and growth is continuing as we see God’s hand blessing our efforts. This year we have added to our team by developing the Regional Director role. In this position we have four leaders who have a heart to see the gospel saturate not only their geography, but also the nation.
- Ryan Kozey – Northeast Region – Buffalo, New York
- Will Plitt – Southeast Region – Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- Chad Clarkson – Southwest Region – Houston, Texas
- Chris Lagerlof – West Coast – Orange County, California
Serving as Regional Directors, their main responsibility is to initiate and catalyze conversation around the vision of every man, woman, and child. They are serving in their regions, building relationships, and encouraging pastors and leaders to join the conversation. Sometimes the challenge of helping churches in a geography see themselves as representing one church and knowing how to work together within that context can be difficult. That’s where Christ Together comes in; we hope to provide resources that fuel this conversation.
We recognize that each geography is unique, and a “one size fits all” model will not reach every man, woman, and child. The newly developed Christ Together teaching platform strives to provide the framework for pastors to begin the conversation of every man, woman, and child in their geography. With the completion of this platform, we hope to see more and more activity develop as churches collaborate and engage the lostness in their context.
As a part of the Christ Together team, I’ve had the privilege of seeing God move across the country. Right now we have 32 cities engaged in CT activity. Pastors are coming to the table in places like Las Vegas, Nevada; Wilmington, North Carolina; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and San Francisco, California. Would you join us in praying for them? Pray that key connections would be made and for receptivity and openness among the churches. Pray that God would lead us to the person(s) He has burdened for the lostness of each city.
As pastors are becoming more comfortable with reaching across denominational lines and trusting others in a shared common vision, we are seeing God move in unprecedented ways. In my hometown of Austin, Texas, The Church is working together to raise the spiritual awareness in our city by launching Love . . . Where You Live: The Art of Neighboring. By encouraging the believers in Austin to take the great commandment seriously, we are taking the vision of EMWC next door, literally. A few hours from here in Houston, Texas, churches from multiple denominations are coming together to saturate their city by committing to train, coach, and fund future church planters through a one-year collaborative church-planting residency.
The Spirit of God is moving from East to West as well. In the Southeast, kingdom collaboration is reaching new levels in cities such as Jackson, Mississippi, and Newport News, Virginia. Pastors and leaders from different ethnic backgrounds are coming to the table to strategize and move together for gospel saturation. While across the country in Orange County, California the focus is on seeing The Church in Orange County mobilized and multiplied to reach every man, woman, and child. They are doing this through a commitment to raise up church planting churches by providing assessment, training, and coaching using the Christ Together platform.
Each city has a unique strategy for their geography, but they are united in vision. Our prayer is that this effort will continue to grow, and the Spirit of God will continue to move across our country until every man, woman, and child has a repeated opportunity to see, hear, and respond to the gospel.
